Hanko Railway Station was built in 1952 to replace the previous one that was destroyed in the war. The building is protected as a pure representative of functionalism, and it has recently been turned into year-round hotel use. The building is heated with geothermal energy and harvests electricity with 350m2 of solar panels on the roof.
