In the footsteps of the emigrants

In 1880-1930 Hanko was the departure town for emigrants seeking a better life in America. There are still many places and buildings that are associated with the emigration. Nearly 400 000 Finns emigrated to North America and Canada in hope of finding a better life, and most of them departed via Hanko. On this tour we will visit these places and hear about the destiny of a few emigrants.
