Located in Täktom, Hanko, about seven kilometres from the town centre, HanGolf is a golf course where nature, sunshine, tranquillity, and the joy of playing captivate golfers.
According to CEO Lena Haanpää, HanGolf is an almost year-round golfing community. When weather conditions allow, the course offers an exceptionally long playing season, a nature-oriented environment, and a relaxed atmosphere.
“HanGolf first opened in 1997 as a nine-hole par 3 course. In 2002, the course was expanded, and it reached its final form as the current 18-hole par 72 course in 2006. The course was designed by Jorma Eriksson. The current clubhouse, including a café and sauna facilities, was completed in 2013.”
Hanko’s maritime location has a strong influence on the local climate and extends the golf season compared to many other courses.
“Our course often opens as early as March if weather conditions permit. In good conditions, playing can continue well into autumn, even until December. In practice, we have three strong seasons: spring, midsummer, and autumn. The long autumn season, in particular, is a significant strength for us,” Lena Haanpää explains.
The course has a flat and senior-friendly profile, yet still offers variety. There is plenty of forest and several ponds, and water hazards come into play on many holes.
“Water is in play on as many as 15 holes. We continuously invest in course maintenance and development. Tee boxes are being renewed, forest areas are cleared, and the driving range is being developed. Green Card courses will again be offered starting in spring 2026.”
The cosy log-built clubhouse is known for its relaxed atmosphere.
“We provide service in Finnish, Swedish, and English. Players have access to sauna facilities and a café offering light snacks and popular hot dogs. HanGolf is above all an approachable course – a place where the joy of the game meets the tranquillity of nature,” Lena Haanpää concludes.
