Running a year-round restaurant in Hanko is not just a business decision for Filip Langhoff and Linda Stenman-Langhoff.
It is a long-time commitment and a work ethic that consistently values quality over shortcuts. “As a small, family-run business, it shows in every part of what we do at the restaurant,” Filip elaborates.
“Ingredients shouldn’t travel farther than necessary.” Having been awarded a Michelin star for their previous Restaurant Ask in
Helsinki, the couple favors responsibly sourced Nordic and local produce, paired with European wines. At Segel they serve seasonal set menus consisting of three or six courses. “Food, wine and atmosphere should always be in balance and elevate each other — their combination is our true strength. We are also very proud of our thoughtfully curated and extensive wine cellar,” Linda emphasizes. “At Segel, the atmosphere is everything. It should always feel warm and inviting. We want our guests to be able to fully relax and really enjoy themselves. In addition to the main restaurant, we offer the casual seasonal Segel Bistro and Segel Salongen – a private venue perfect for corporate events, meetings, weddings, and
intimate celebrations. We also offer catering services,” Linda reminds.
In everything the Langhoffs commit themselves to, the core message remains consistent: hospitality made personal. Filip summarises: “We strongly believe that we can create a restaurant of the highest standard – at an international level – here in Hanko.”
