Entrepreneur couple Suvi Jokelainen and Samuli Aarva of Hanko Blue Oy are creating a new year-round restaurant and sauna concept at the tip of Tulliniemi, under the name Dyyni. The project originated from the city’s idea competition in 2023.
The goal is to open in spring 2026. The couple wants to be an active part of the city’s development while bringing a fresh perspective to Hanko.
“We don’t just sell a service, we sell the experience of this fantastic seaside environment. We want to lower the barrier for guests to come close to the beach and offer an alternative to the traditional bustle of the Eastern Harbor,” Jokelainen and Aarva summarize. “This has been a long and exciting journey. We have listened carefully to our customers and developed the concept according to their wishes and practicality,” says Suvi Jokelainen. Tulliniemi is Samuli’s beloved childhood landscape and playground.
“This area is unique in Finland. Nature, sea, and beach together create an experience that we feel has not been fully appreciated elsewhere,” Samuli explains.
Dyyni is built around the maritime environment: wood, closeness to nature, and simple, good food.
“The café-restaurant offers easy and uncomplicated food – salads, soups, filled sandwiches, and fresh pastries. The menu follows the seasons. Guests can enjoy the sea view both indoors and on the terrace, and in winter, the fireplace adds a cozy atmosphere.
Our idea is an ‘all day menu,’ where you can have a light breakfast in the morning or enjoy lunch in the afternoon without unnecessary formality,” Suvi describes. The concept also includes a sauna with sea view for 12 people and a lounge that can be rented for private use. Contact us by email to arrange private events. “In the near future, we will offer packages combining food, sauna, and e-bike tours on Southern Finland’s best trails. For companies, ready-made and customized packages are being developed,” emphasizes Samuli.
