Ari Nyysti and Hana Leino-Pastrnakova of Pärlan Dental Clinic were planning to move to Prague in the summer of 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed their plans. Work took Hana to Hanko as a private dentist and Ari to Salo as a chief dentist. However, their fondness for Hanko gave rise to the idea of establishing their own clinic.
“We wanted to offer the people of Hanko high-quality dental care and ourselves a dream workplace. Pärlan opened in July 2022, and we moved to Hanko in May 2023,” Ari says.
Hana graduated from Charles University in Prague and Ari from the University of Turku. Hana studied aesthetics abroad and soon realized that this alone was not enough to help patients seeking solutions for both the appearance of their teeth and functional bite disorders.
“We have both completed training at the Dawson Academy in the United Kingdom and the United States,” Hana explains. “Ari has pursued further studies in patient communication and motivation in the U.S., as well as in clear aligner orthodontics such as Invisalign, Lumiliner, and Heysmile. I have specialized in prosthetics, implants, and minimally invasive dentistry at the University of Geneva, as well as in the treatment of patients with chronic pain and sleep apnea at Louisiana State University (LSU) in the U.S. Currently, we are further developing our expertise in digital dentistry and the impact of nutrition on oral health.”
“Modern dentistry is not just about filling cavities. Of course, we treat acute problems, but our goal is also to prevent future issues. Together with the patient, we create a plan for what is needed now, later, and whether the patient’s own wish is, for example, a beautiful smile, replacing a missing tooth, or achieving a functional bite. Usually there are several options, and many are surprised to find that the planned treatment is not as expensive as they expected,” Ari explains.

“In addition to us, our team includes surgeon Patricia Stoor. We have also recently started collaborating with WHYNOT therapist Outi Korkiakoski in therapy for patients with dental anxiety. Together, we can lower the threshold for patients to seek treatment,” Hana adds.

Ari provides clear aligner orthodontic treatment, root canal treatments, and complex tooth extractions. Hana creates beautiful smiles and fixed prosthetics such as bridges and implants. Patricia performs implant surgery and other demanding surgical procedures.
