The family-owned company M. Broman, which celebrated its 120th anniversary last year, was founded in 1905 in Ekenäs as a goldsmith business. Over the decades, it has grown into a jewellery and optical retailer built on quality and personal service, with locations in Hanko, Karis, and Ekenäs.
The Hanko store, opened on the Esplanade in 2024, is an important link in a continuum where long tradition meets the present day. M. Broman’s current owner, Rudy Lindberg, has been involved in the business since 2017 and has been the owner since 2020.
“We offer a wide selection of well-known brands and a broad range of services in addition to optical services. All kinds of engravings are carried out at our Karis store. We aim to serve customers quickly and flexibly—for example, we perform many repairs on the spot for jewellery, watches, or glasses, regardless of where they were purchased.” Items that cannot be repaired on site are sent to long-term partners.
“Speed and flexibility are also evident in our optical services, as we grind the lenses ourselves. This significantly shortens delivery times for customers,” Lindberg notes.
In Hanko, M. Broman strives to be an approachable local operator. Customers include permanent residents, local businesses, second-home owners, and tourists.
“If something is not immediately available in Hanko, we order it for the customer. We also transport products from Ekenäs and Karis, even within the same day,” Lindberg explains. The three-store M. Broman network provides customers with added flexibility and reliability.
Last year’s anniversary was not only a celebration of the company’s history, but also a strong look toward the future.
“Our online store and social media support our brick-and-mortar shops. At the core remains the same idea as 120 years ago: professional expertise, personal service, and a genuine understanding of the customer’s needs,” Rudy Lindberg concludes.
