The popular summer trains will run between Riihimäki and Hanko again next summer. From 22 June onwards, you can travel to Hanko on the H train – daily. The train offers a direct, low-emission connection to Finland’s southernmost city in approximately two hours.
The commuter train service between Riihimäki and Hanko will operate daily from 22 June to 26 July 2026. The services will be operated using VR’s familiar commuter trains.
The timetables allow for a day trip to Hanko of around five hours. The journey time is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. Connections in Riihimäki are conveniently coordinated with long-distance trains stopping there.
Tickets will go on sale in early May. More detailed information about the start of ticket sales will be published on VR’s website and social media channels during April. Tickets can be purchased through all VR sales channels as well as at R-kiosks.
It is also possible to travel to Hanko from Helsinki by train as usual. However, between 27 June and 10 August, trains between Helsinki and Karis will be replaced by buses due to track works related to the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s Espoo urban rail project. Commuter train services between Karis and Hanko will operate as normal during this period. Long-distance trains between Karis and Turku will run less frequently.
